Normally I'm fairly active here on DA, responding to comments, noting, collabing, writing , etc. But I have not been doing that as often as I would like to due to the unfortunate problem of my computer dying. I know what's wrong with it, but what's wrong with it is something that means that I have to go and buy another computer altogether. And I honestly cannot afford that unless I save for over a year (which I'm fine with, because I do NEED the computer), but it's frustrating. I have a lot of art and designs that I'm working on, and I can't upload them on here due to the aforementioned computer issue, I took a long break earlier this year because I was burned out physically, mentally, emotionally, and creatively. I would look at a piece of paper and start crying because I couldn't stand the thought of drawing. And drawing is something I love to do, it's a major stress relief to me, and to be unable to even do that was incredibly painful. But now that I'm better and have lots to share, all the electronics decide to go on strike? It's maddening.
I will be back to a fuller extent towards the end of the month as I have a temporary solution lined up to help with the uploads, but in the meantime know that I really do miss you guys and sharing my art with you.
With love, Velvet

9/18/20 - Plants Parenting and Planning Paintings
As time goes on, the struggle of keeping my poor plants (really only one, the rest are good.) alive is really starting to show. The poor Alocasia I featured last journal is threatening to croak it's last while my sister and I frantically try to figure out how to save it. Though I now have more plants in an effort to turn my room into a jungle, I am determined to keep this one plant baby of mine alive. I finally got my DREAM plant, Philodendron Xanadu, and she is a beauty. Did I mention that I got two? Ahaha... Yeah. In addition, I was able to find an Areca Palm, and two more Alocasia Amazonica's, and three, yes, three, plants that I have absolutely no idea what they are. I honestly don't know how that happened. I think one might be a dracena(?) but I'm not entirely sure. They are gorgeous though, and look amazing all together in my 'little' plant corner. I have been working on my painting series over the past month, and at the moment I've made decent progress on them, and with any
8/14/20 - Succulent Spirits series
Slowly but surely working on completing a new art series this month. I've been craving to paint a lot of desert cactus and succulents recently and finally got most of the sketch ideas hammered out this past weekend. Now as I'm about to actually start sketching the pieces and working on getting the details figured out, the ever dreaded panic/intimidation of starting new paintings is setting in.... I need to take a breath and remind myself that this happens to me every time I start something new, haha. On the plus side, this past weekend I and my dad built a new desk for my workspace! Yay! I have needed a new desk for a while now, but figuring out just what it was that I needed and balancing it with what I want aesthetically has been a journey. Now, however, I know what I want and armed with a plan, materials, and a father who oh-so-graciously volunteered to help me build this massive monstrosity and assist me in the use of his power tools (a wise move on his part, I know nothing about
7/17/20 - Reflections and New Directions
I'm Back!! Yes, I do realize, believe it or not, that I have a tendency of saying that a lot.... Heigh-ho. So much has changed over the past few years since I've been on and off of DA. Personally, mentally, and, in the case of my art, directionally. When I first started posting on here I was so passionate about drawing costumed characters, and designing clothes in my main pursuit of becoming a fashion designer. That has not happened, haha. Thank heaven. I am nevertheless incredibly thankful for my childhood passions, as they really helped to push my imagination to it's limits, only to realize that it didn't have any in the first place. Since 2016 I've not posted all that much here on DA in favor of experimenting with new mediums and trying to figure out what I wanted to do with my art and what directions I wanted to go in. Since I've given myself that much needed break and time to experiment I've kind of figured out what kind of art I want to create, which is full of much more
Something Fun...
I found a little challenge on Pinterest this evening as I was scrolling through the endless depths of it, and I decided to do it:
Simply choose an OC of mine (listed below) and a number from the list and write them in a comment and I will draw my OC:
1. In what they normally wear
2. In what I am currently wearing
3. In a school uniform
4. In swimwear
5. In underwear
6. With no clothes on
7. In winter clothes
8. In fancy clothes
9. Making three different expressions
10. Standing on their hands
11. With their favorite animal
12. Hanging out with a friend
13. Sitting on the couch
14. Doing something they don't normally do
15. Eat
